Job Description: POSITION: Journeyman Carpenter / Deck and Patio Cover Builder Zion Builders, Inc. is an outdoor living structure building company. We are a family‑owned business seeking career‑minded carpenters who want to grow with our team with steady, reliable work throughout the Reno/Sparks area and Tahoe Basin.
Schedule: Full Time, year around. Location: North-west Nevada Wages: $25 to $30 per hour depending on experience Benefits: Paid time off, holiday pay, retirement plan, group health plans available to meet your specific needs.

Minimum / Preferred Requirements • Minimum 5 years trade‑related carpentry experience • Maintain reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license eligible for company vehicle use • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification • Ability to pass a written carpentry test involving fractions to 1/16 inch • Consistent punctuality and reliable attendance • Willingness to travel to job sites throughout Reno/Sparks, Washoe County, and the Tahoe Basin Required Tools (minimum) • Impact drill • Sawzall • Circular saw • Framing nailer • Magnetic screw‑gun tip and drill bits • Grinder • 4‑foot level • Tool bags and standard hand tools (catspaw, flat bar, hammer) • Laser level • 100‑foot extension cord • Planer • 35‑foot tape measure • Mobile phone • Hard hat Job Responsibilities / Duties 1. Customer Service Goal: Deliver a positive customer experience that supports referrals and future work. • Maintain a clean job site; store materials properly and remove waste promptly • Minimize impact on customer property, including walkways, entryways, and landscaping • Maintain a smoke‑ and vape‑free job site by using designated areas away from the work zone • Communicate customer needs clearly and professionally with the contractor 2. Carpentry Rough framing; installation of composite and wood decking and handrail; aluminum patio covers; footings; concrete; tie‑steel; drywall; paint; roofing; gutters; siding; exterior trim; pavers. Goal: Construct high‑quality projects with attention to detail and craftsmanship. • Maintain all necessary tools in proper working condition • Inspect materials for defects and verify alignment • Paint deck substructures to reduce visibility and preserve wood 3. Field Safety Goal: Ensure safety for employees, customers, and bystanders to prevent injuries and property damage. • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work environments • Evaluate practices and facilities for risk and compliance with the Zion Builders Safety Plan • Recommend improvements or new prevention measures • Inspect products, tools and equipment for safe and proper functioning.
Skills • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Advanced carpentry skills • Strong time‑management abilities • Ability to read building specifications and blueprints • Accurate time and mileage tracking using digital apps • Ability to track job costs and receipts • Literacy in English or Spanish (If Spanish must at least be able to communicate with all co-workers and customers if needed)
Physical Requirements • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per day with appropriate breaks • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds • Ability to work safely at heights using ladders, scaffolding and fall‑protection equipment • Ability to work in all weather conditions
