Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic Job Description This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems and structural components within a steel fabrication and mill environment. You will ensure that plant equipment operates safely and efficiently by diagnosing issues, performing mechanical and welding repairs, and supporting continuous improvements to plant structures and processes. Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot structural issues within the plant and design effective repair solutions that meet operational and safety requirements. • Partner with the maintenance team to identify and implement process improvements that enhance structural integrity and equipment reliability. • Perform mechanical repairs on hydraulic systems, including diagnosing leaks, replacing components, and restoring proper function. • Perform mechanical repairs on pneumatic systems to ensure consistent and reliable operation of plant equipment. • Diagnose and repair CNC equipment, including mechanical components, to maintain accuracy and productivity. • Service and repair extrusion machinery, restoring equipment to proper working order and minimizing downtime. • Maintain and repair heavy equipment and overhead cranes, ensuring safe and efficient material handling operations. • Perform MIG and TIG welding on plant structures, equipment, and components as needed for repairs and fabrication. • Execute vertical, horizontal, and overhead welding to repair or fabricate metal parts and structures. • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to identify repair needs and fabricate replacement parts. • Fabricate new parts to repair and restore machines to working order using appropriate tools and techniques. • Conduct preventive maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to reduce unplanned downtime. • Troubleshoot mechanical issues throughout the plant using systematic diagnostic methods and tools. • Use PLC troubleshooting techniques to assist in identifying mechanical or system-related issues that affect equipment performance. • Work in alignment with AWS welding codes and standards when performing welding and fabrication tasks. Essential Skills

• Proven experience troubleshooting mechanical issues within an industrial or manufacturing environment. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for mechanical and structural repairs. • Hands-on experience repairing hydraulic systems. • Hands-on experience repairing pneumatic systems. • Mechanical repair experience with CNC equipment and extrusion machinery. • Experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment and overhead cranes. • Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding for repair and fabrication tasks. • Ability to perform vertical, horizontal, and overhead welding safely and accurately. • Familiarity with AWS welding codes and the ability to work to code requirements. • Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial equipment. • Ability to fabricate metal parts and components to restore machines to working order. • Basic PLC troubleshooting skills to support equipment diagnostics. • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose complex mechanical problems. • Ability to work effectively as part of a maintenance team and communicate clearly regarding repair needs and solutions. Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Technical, vocational, or trade school education is preferred but not required. • A degree in Mechatronics or a related technical field is beneficial, even with limited hands-on experience. • Experience as a Maintenance Technician in a steel mill, fabrication shop, or heavy industrial environment is a plus. • Experience in industrial fabrication and welding. • Comfort working with large-scale industrial machinery and structural components. • Willingness to develop skills across multiple disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and automation systems. Work Environment The role is based in a steel mill that processes recycled materials into building products for the construction industry. The facility consists of large industrial buildings housing heavy equipment and foundry operations. Because of the size of the equipment and production areas, the environment is not climate controlled. Conditions are generally temperate during the winter and can become hot during the summer, particularly near foundry operations.Employees work around large machinery, fabrication equipment, overhead cranes, and production lines, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Shift Schedule This position operates on a DuPont rotating 12-hour shift schedule, with openings available on both day and night shifts. The DuPont schedule provides a structured rotation of consecutive workdays followed by extended time off. Candidates must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and rotating schedules as required by production and operational needs. Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Charlotte, NC. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60320.00 - $76960.00/yr.
