Job Title: Fleet Diesel Technician - mid shift $25-40/hrJob DescriptionThis role focuses on maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of trucks and trailers, ensuring they operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with regulatory standards. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues using OEM software, and complete high-quality repairs while managing parts, inventory, and electronic work orders.Responsibilities
• Perform preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles, including inspections and servicing of brakes, steering, suspension, and other critical systems. • Diagnose engine and vehicle issues using OEM diagnostic software and other testing equipment. • Complete repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, and other major components, including heavy repairs as needed. • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including wiring, controls, and components. • Diagnose and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems to ensure safe and reliable operation. • Perform DOT inspections and complete any required DOT-related repairs to keep equipment compliant. • Carry out trailer repairs, including structural, mechanical, and system-related work. • Conduct refrigeration system maintenance and repairs on applicable fleet equipment. • Use welding and fabrication skills to repair or modify parts, frames, and other components as required. • Manage parts and inventory, including ordering, receiving, and tracking parts usage. • Accurately charge parts and labor to electronic work orders and ensure all documentation is complete and correct. • Write up work orders clearly and thoroughly, detailing diagnostics, repairs performed, and parts used. • Collaborate with drivers to schedule repairs, understand reported issues, and minimize downtime for the fleet. • Perform maintenance and repairs on-site and via service trucks, traveling between shops as needed. • Handle physical aspects of the job, including lifting up to 75 pounds and working on and under trucks for extended periods. • Work safely in and around shop environments, following all procedures and using appropriate tools and equipment. • Support periodic PMs, work orders, DOT-related tasks, and other maintenance activities as assigned. Essential Skills
• Hands-on experience with diesel engine maintenance and repair. • Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues on fleet vehicles. • Ability to use OEM diagnostic software for engine and system diagnostics. • Experience performing preventative maintenance on trucks and trailers. • Skilled in brake, steering, suspension, and general mechanical repairs. • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including wiring and components. • Experience with pneumatic systems, including diagnosis and repair. • Experience with hydraulic systems, including diagnosis and repair. • Capability to perform DOT inspections and complete DOT-related repairs. • Ability to manage parts, inventory, ordering, and accurate billing through electronic work orders. • Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work on and under trucks for extended periods, including climbing, bending, and stretching. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and work order completion. • Welding and fabrication experience for structural and component repairs. • Experience with engine, transmission, and other heavy repairs. • Experience with refrigeration system maintenance and repair on fleet equipment. • Experience in trailer repair, including structural and mechanical systems. • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. • Familiarity with electronic work order systems and digital documentation. • Ability to work independently, organize daily tasks, and manage time effectively. • Comfort working with drivers and other team members to coordinate repairs and maintenance. The role includes the use of service trucks to perform mobile repairs and to travel between shop locations as needed. The environment is hands-on and shop-based, involving work on and under trucks and trailers, as well as occasional field work using service vehicles. You will use OEM diagnostic software, standard and specialized tools, welding and fabrication equipment, and electronic work order systems. The position requires regular physical activity, including lifting, climbing, bending, and working in and around heavy equipment in an active shop setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Minneapolis, MN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
