Job Title: WelderJob DescriptionThis role combines hands-on welding, fabrication, and general machine shop support in a traditional, "old school" shop environment. You will work primarily on thicker gauge steel using MIG and flux core processes, assist with machine building, and support production through grinding, parts running, and general labor tasks on a consistent first shift schedule. Responsibilities • Perform MIG and flux core welding on thicker gauge steel components, including tanks, pipes, and structural fabrications. • Grind and finish welded parts to meet quality and dimensional specifications. • Assist with fabrication tasks such as fitting, layout, and assembly of components for machine building and other projects. • Interpret and work from blueprints and drawings to complete welds and assemblies accurately. • Support the machine shop as a helper by running parts, staging materials, and assisting operators as needed. • Use hand tools, shop tools, and basic equipment safely to perform general labor and fabrication tasks. • Contribute to production work by maintaining consistent output and meeting schedule requirements. • Follow all shop safety practices and maintain a clean, organized work area. • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to complete projects efficiently and resolve issues on the shop floor. Essential Skills • Experience working in a machine shop environment. • Proficiency in MIG welding on thicker gauge steel. • Proficiency in flux core welding, including work on tanks and pipe. • Ability to perform grinding and finishing operations on welded parts. • Experience with fabrication work, including fitting and assembly. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints. • Comfort using hand tools and basic shop equipment. • Capability to perform general labor tasks in a production and fabrication setting. • Willingness to work first shift from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with occasional overtime on Fridays and weekends. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with stainless steel welding and fabrication. • Background in machine building within a machine shop environment. • Familiarity with older manual machinery such as brake presses and roll presses. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy shop setting. You will work on a first shift schedule from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with occasional overtime on Fridays and some weekends. The shop focuses on production, fabrication, and machine building, using hand tools, welding equipment, and general shop tools. The environment is hands-on, industrial, and team-oriented, with a strong emphasis on safety, craftsmanship, and consistent production output. Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Gurnee, IL. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
