Job Title: Maintenance EngineerJob DescriptionThis role sits within the maintenance team and focuses on repairing and maintaining industrial production machinery in a high-volume manufacturing environment. You will perform electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repairs on automated equipment such as waterjets, conveyors, stamping cells, and other production machines to minimize downtime and support continuous operations. Responsibilities • Perform preventive maintenance on industrial production machinery to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life. • Respond promptly to down machine calls and diagnose issues on automated equipment, including waterjets, conveyors, stamping cells, and related systems. • Carry out electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repairs on production machinery and components. • Repair and rebuild hydraulic pumps, cylinders, rams, and lines to ensure safe and reliable operation of stamping and other equipment. • Troubleshoot and resolve machine performance issues independently, using systematic problem-solving techniques. • Perform robotic teach point edits on Fanuc robots, where applicable, to correct or optimize machine operation. • Independently troubleshoot and repair electrical issues on production equipment, including identifying faults and replacing or repairing components as needed. • Support continuous production by working extended shifts and weekends when required to keep equipment running. • Collaborate with other maintenance technicians across all shifts to share preventive maintenance tasks and balance workload. • Document maintenance activities as required and communicate equipment status and issues to supervisors and team members. • Assist with hydraulic and mechanical repairs on stamping cells and presses, ensuring safe and efficient operation. • Contribute to a safe work environment by following safety procedures, using required PPE, and reporting hazards or equipment concerns. Essential Skills • At least 4 recent years of machine repair experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. • Hands-on experience with hydraulics, including repairing and rebuilding pumps, cylinders or rams, and hydraulic lines. • Ability to perform electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repairs on automated production machinery. • Capability to either edit robotic teach points on Fanuc robots or independently troubleshoot and repair electrical issues on production equipment. • Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving machine performance and reliability issues. • Ability to conduct preventive maintenance on a variety of industrial machines and systems. • Comfort working 10+ hour shifts as needed to support production demands. • Willingness and ability to work weekends, including 2–3 Saturdays per month. • Experience working safely in a manufacturing environment and using appropriate personal protective equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with stamping operations or injection molding processes. • Welding experience for maintenance and repair of production equipment. • Tooling experience, including working with dies, fixtures, or related tooling used in stamping or similar operations. • Familiarity with Fanuc robots and editing Fanuc teach points. • Exposure to training or coursework in electrical systems or PLCs. Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a manufacturing facility that produces carpeted products for the automotive industry, applying soundproof, weatherproof, and waterproof backing to vehicle floorboard carpets. The plant operates multiple stamping cells—approximately 10 to 12 cells with around 6 presses per cell—which require frequent hydraulic and mechanical maintenance. The maintenance team runs across three shifts, with a target of at least two technicians per shift and a balanced approach to preventive maintenance across all shifts. Standard shift hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for first shift, 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. for second shift, and 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. for third shift. The facility typically operates 6 to 7 days per week, and maintenance staff should expect to work extended hours and weekends, including 2–3 Saturdays per month, particularly while the plant expands and new operations come online. The work involves regular hydraulic and mechanical repairs on stamping presses and other automated equipment, using tools and technologies common to industrial maintenance, including Fanuc robotics and electrical troubleshooting tools. Dress code includes jeans or work pants, with work shirts provided, and requires steel-toe footwear and safety glasses in accordance with plant safety standards. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Port Huron, MI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $32.00/hr.
