Job Title: Concrete LaborerJob DescriptionThis role supports commercial construction projects by assisting with foundation work, concrete placement, and general site tasks. You will help construct and set forms for footings and foundation walls, handle materials and tools, and follow direction from the foreman to ensure structures are built safely and accurately. Responsibilities • Report to the commercial job site each morning at the designated start time and prepare for the day’s foundation work. • Carry concrete materials, tools, and equipment from the truck to the work area in a safe and efficient manner. • Construct and set wooden and metal forms for footings and foundation walls according to blueprints and project specifications. • Follow direction from the foreman on the placement, alignment, and adjustment of forms. • Use tools such as hammers and tape measures to assemble, secure, and align forms accurately. • Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 100 pounds while maintaining safe lifting practices. • Assist with concrete pours, including placing, spreading, and consolidating concrete as directed. • Perform basic concrete finishing using trowels and other hand tools to achieve the required surface quality. • Support general site cleanup by removing debris, organizing materials, and maintaining a safe and orderly work area. • Work collaboratively with other trades and crew members on a busy construction site to support overall project progress. Essential Skills • Concrete finishing or foundation experience. • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately. • Experience working with concrete materials and forms in a construction environment. • Ability to frequently lift up to 100 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday. • Ability to follow blueprints and foreman instructions for form placement and alignment. • Proficiency using basic construction tools such as hammers, tape measures, and trowels. • Ownership of wet boots, a hard hat, and basic hand tools required for concrete and foundation work. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Construction experience specific to concrete projects. • Concrete finishing or foundation experience in commercial settings. • Commercial construction experience on active job sites. • Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions. • Strong awareness of safety practices on busy construction sites with multiple trades and equipment. Work EnvironmentThis is a full-time, field-based role on a commercial construction site. The typical schedule runs Monday through Friday, with start times usually between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., and finishing around 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., depending on workload and weather, with some Saturdays as needed. Pay is based on experience. You will be assigned specifically to a fire authority project in Whitehall for several months. The work takes place outdoors in a dirty and dusty environment typical of active construction sites, with other trades working nearby. The site includes moving machinery, tools, and materials, requiring constant awareness of surroundings and adherence to safety practices. Appropriate construction attire is required, including wet boots, a hard hat, and basic tools suitable for concrete and foundation work. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Whitehall, MI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
