Location: Halandri, Athens, Greece (ACS Athens) Department: Technology Department Reports To: Head of Technology Position Type: Full-Time Job Overview ACS Athens is seeking a skilled and collaborative IT Systems Engineer to join our dedicated IT team. In this role, you will be the primary custodian of our core identity and systems infrastructure, ensuring that our 18 local servers, Azure/M365 hybrid environment, and 560+ Windows workstations run seamlessly. This role includes actively engaging with our faculty, staff, and students to understand their technical needs, support their daily operations, and help plan practical software implementations that enhance the educational experience. Key Responsibilities
• Identity & Hybrid Cloud Management
• Administer and maintain the Microsoft Local Active Directory infrastructure and its synchronization with Azure AD / Microsoft 365.
• Manage user accounts, group policies (GPOs), permissions, and security groups for faculty, staff, and students.
• Oversee the health, updates, and licensing within the M365 ecosystem.
• Infrastructure & Server Maintenance
• Monitor and maintain the school's virtualized environment using VMware ESXi and vCenter.
• Ensure the health, security patching, and routine maintenance of 18 on-premises Windows servers.
• Assist with central software deployment and basic endpoint management (training will be provided on our internal deployment tools like SCCM).
• Handle routine data protection tasks and system backups.
• Hardware & User Support
• Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for 560+ Windows workstations, as well as light support for occasional macOS and mobile devices (managed via MDM).
• Interact directly with school staff and students to troubleshoot hardware/software issues, diagnose system bottlenecks, and gather requirements for new software deployments.
• Collaborate with the broader IT team on network troubleshooting, leveraging a solid understanding of network protocols to diagnose connectivity issues before escalation.
Qualifications & Skills
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field preferred (relevant certifications or equivalent practical experience will also be evaluated).
• Experience: 3–5 years of experience in Systems Administration, Technical Support, or a similar IT role.
• Core Tech: Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Azure AD/M365 administration.
• Networking Foundations: Good working knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol, core networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, subnetting), and basic troubleshooting tools.
• Virtualization: Familiarity with VMware vSphere (ESXi/vCenter) operations (VM creation, monitoring, basic provisioning).
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to listen to non-technical users (teachers/students), understand their needs, and translate them into technical solutions.
• Problem Solving: A methodical approach to troubleshooting hardware, OS, and software deployment issues.
• Language: Fluency in English (written and verbal). Greek language skills are a plus but not required, as ACS Athens operates in an international English-speaking environment.
