The Support Worker will assist individual(s) experiencing disability with individualized supports to help them achieve their independent living skills goals and increase their self-support skills. Duties include: - Teaching daily living skills (e.g., housework, budgeting, cooking, interpersonal relations and/or personal care issues)- Assisting with interactions involving community professionals (e.g., doctors, landlords, social workers, etc.)- Finding meaningful activities- Assisting the client in managing socially appropriate behaviours- Providing personal care support as required- Documenting client progress and reporting regularly to the Program Senior Supervisor- Driving clients using a personal vehicle and willingness to travel within the rural communityQualifications:Education:- Disability or Rehabilitation Support Worker Certificate and/or related training and experience- Valid Class 5 Drivers License and ongoing access to a reliable vehicle- Valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or willingness to obtain within three months- Additional courses such as TLR and PART would be considered an assetExperience:- One year experience in related field- Experience supporting individuals through Supported Independent Living Program (SILP) services or similar community-based programs would be considered an asset.Skills:- Excellent verbal and written communication skills- Ability to work independently, adapt to changing needs and strong problem-solving skills- Open minded, creative, and resourceful approach to supporting individuals- Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work effectively with individuals experiencing disabilities, co-workers and community partnersFinal Candidates are required to provide satisfactory criminal record checks including a vulnerable sector search.
