Job Description: What’s it like to work at BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS)? It’s the opportunity to apply your expertise to the world’s most complex defense challenges, knowing that your precision in pricing and strategy directly enables the technology that protects our service members and global security.

Our Finance and Pricing organization is the strategic engine that ensures our programs are sustainable, competitive, and compliant. We blend rigorous analytical discipline with forward-looking strategy to navigate the complexities of government contracting.

As a Principal Pricing Analyst, you will play a critical role in shaping the financial future of our business. In this career opportunity, you will lead the pricing strategy for high-stakes new business proposals and program changes, ensuring every bid is competitive and regulatory-compliant. This job requires a blend of technical mastery in cost estimating and the leadership skills to guide a team through complex negotiations.

The Finance Strategic Capabilities Unit delivers the expertise and business acumen to increase value across the enterprise by providing actionable information with recommendations and opportunities to drive sustainable business growth.

What You’ll Do: • Maximize business success by delivering accurate, realistic, and compliant pricing models that win new work and protect program margins. • Lead Proposal Strategy: Direct the development of new business proposals, Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates, and program change proposals. You will be the primary architect of the pricing strategy, ensuring all cost volumes meet both company standards and stringent government regulatory requirements. • Drive Technical Excellence: Act as the functional pricing expert by developing and enhancing cost estimating processes, tools, and Cost Estimating Relationships (CERs). • Negotiation & Audit Support: Serve as a key resource during customer fact-finding missions and negotiations. You will lead the preparation of negotiation support packages, conduct cost realism evaluations, and defend pricing positions during internal and external audits (such as DCAA or DCMA). • Financial Analysis & Optimization: Perform sophisticated financial modeling, including walk/bridge analysis, cash flow analysis, and ad hoc financial analysis needed to connect proposed work to historical actuals (providing connection to cost realism). • Mentorship & Leadership: Guide and mentor junior analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the pricing team. • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment. • Perform other duties as necessary. On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions: • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

Required Skills and Education: • Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 6 or more years related experience. • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education. #LI-LO1A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
