Job summary
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist who will provide clinical leadership across universal, targeted and specialist paediatric Speech and Language Therapy services in North West Wales. As the successful applicant, you will work alongside Speech and Language Therapy operational leads, service leads and wider system partners, to strengthen, embed and evaluate evidence-based and outcome-focussed speech, language and communication practice for our children and young people aged 0-18.
As an experienced SLT you will have demonstrable expertise in the delivery of assessment, and intervention for a Paediatric caseload, with advanced clinical reasoning and decision making skills. You will be confident in the prioritisation and management of a busy and demanding caseload. You will have excellent organisation, interpersonal and communication skills, and will be a proactive and reflective clinician.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an experienced and autonomous clinician, able to provide support, supervision, training and development opportunities for SLT team members and for the MDT. The post holder will be responsible, and accountable for all aspects of the day to day management of their delegated caseload. The post holder will have demonstratable project management skills and will be able to identify opportunities for service change and improvement under the guidance of the SLT West Leadership and Management group.
The post holder will be experienced in having a leading role within MDTs and will be able to represent the service with partner organisations, communicating highly complex and sensitive information with skill. They will demonstrate a good working knowledge of national and local standards, as well as developments in the field of paediatric SLT.
The post holder will lead by example, having a role in supervising and appraising SLT staff and students. The post holder will demonstrate a clear understanding of clinical risk and governance. As a senior clinician within the SLT West Paediatric team, the post holder will have demonstrable skill and expertise in the delivery of the ALN Act, including written submissions (Section 20, and Section 65 requests) to written Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and Person Centred Planning meetings.
