This role is for an individual who is either considering, or has started, an actuarial career, with a keen interest in data, analytics, financial modelling and problem-solving. Sponsorship through actuarial qualification is available.
The Actuarial Analyst will play a key role in supporting pricing and other activities across our actuarial function. Working closely with underwriting and the wider actuarial team, this position offers the opportunity to analyse data, develop insights, and contribute to strategic decision-making in a dynamic reinsurance environment.
Duties and responsibilities
• Work with the Pricing team with analysing submissions, data entry into pricing models and understanding aggregations.
• Conduct pricing analytics, assumptions and tool maintenance and enhancements
• Work across the Actuarial team, as time permits, to prepare, analyse and evaluate data, providing insights to the team and the business generally.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of PowerBI dashboards
• Support the Reserving and Capital Modelling teams by analyzing data, updating key parameters, and maintaining models to ensure accuracy and alignment with business needs.
• Analyse external benchmarking data to supplement analysis across the Actuarial Function.
• Undertake research to support the Actuarial team as required.
Qualifications and experience
• Bachelor’s, or Postgraduate, Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or other relevant numerate subject.
• Progress towards an internationally recognized actuarial designation with an internationally recognized association would be an asset
• Experience of working in the P&C (re)insurance industry preferred, ideally with prior knowledge of pricing, reserving or capital modelling.
• Technical experience including SQL, R, Python and PowerBI would be an asset
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office; particularly Excel and preferably to VBA programming level.
• Knowledge of third-party actuarial software and catastrophe models would be an advantage, e.g. ResQ, HX, Igloo, Tyche, Radar.
• An interest in data, analytics, financial modelling and problem-solving preferred.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to prioritise, while remaining flexible to deal with changing work demands.
• High levels of motivation and enthusiasm.
• Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Comfortable working as part of a team, or independently.
