The Little Compton School Department is looking to hire a full time (7.25 hours per school day) Teaching Assistant to assist with student supervision and provide classroom, recess, and cafeteria support as needed. Applicants must pass a national background check. The Teacher Assistant works under direct supervision of the Principal, performing school-based duties associated with the educational requirements and support of all students, staff, and families. The position is a school-year position.
Primary Responsibilities include: Perform any combination of instructional duties as deemed necessary by the Principal Perform any combination of supervisory duties as deemed necessary by the Principal Present material to students under the direction of the classroom teacher/Principal Assist students individually and in group with lessons Accountable for confidentiality regarding all student information Participate in daily and long term planning with the teachers/Principal Assist in maintaining records for students as directed by the Principal Alert the Principal of any problems observed in the building/yard Supervise lunch and recess Perform administrative services for the classroom teacher/Principal The individual in this position must meet standards and indicators for Teacher Assistants as defined by the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE), possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, maintain a professional level of confidentiality, and adhere to all district policies and procedures, including federal law, such as FERPA.
