About this role
Job summary Working with the tuberculosis nursing team, you'll support people through treatment, screening and follow-up so that they receive safe, effective care and the best possible health outcomes. You'll be part of a supportive service helping people with active tuberculosis, latent infection and those requiring screening or contact tracing. This role is important in promoting health, preventing infection and helping people stay engaged with treatment. You'll work closely with registered nurses, patients, families and partner organisations to deliver person-centred care and support across a range of settings.
Main duties of the job What you'll do:
Support patients to understand and follow their treatment and care plans Monitor wellbeing, carry out agreed clinical tasks and escalate concerns when needed Help with screening, contact tracing, clinic preparation and follow-up appointments Provide health promotion and infection prevention advice within agreed guidance Maintain accurate patient records and contribute to service improvement activities What we're looking for: Registered Nursing Associate on the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships Experience working within a healthcare or community service team Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload A commitment to safe, compassionate care and ongoing learning and development We welcome applications from people with different backgrounds and experiences and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone is treated with fairness, respect and valued for their contribution

Qualifications Essential
Nursing Associate Foundation Degree Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC Register GCSE Grade A-C in Maths & English or skills level 2 Maths & English or equivalent
Knowledge Essential
Understanding of the scope of the Registered Nursing Associate role in England, including contribution to TB care delivery under Registered Nurse leadership Understands and acts in accordance with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of following TB pathways, treatment plans, infection prevention procedures and local standard operating procedures Understands the requirement for NMC professional Revalidation Awareness of health inequalities, stigma, safeguarding and social factors that may affect TB screening, treatment adherence and engagement with services
Desirable
Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate in relation to TB symptoms, treatment adherence, medication side effects, safeguarding, infection control risks and patient deterioration
Experience Essential
Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multidisciplinary health or community service Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate Experience of providing and receiving sensitive information with patients, families, carers or professionals, including situations where reassurance, empathy and clear escalation are required
Desirable
Experience of working with people affected by TB, respiratory infection, communicable disease, public health screening or community nursing
