About this role

Job summary

We are advertising two full time assistant psychologist posts in Older Adult Mental Health (Band 4). One would be based with our Inpatient Mental Health Service in Bromsgrove and the other working in a Community Mental Health Team based at Rowan House, Malvern.

This is a fixed term post due to time limited nature of the funding which will end in 12 months. We reserve the right to end this contract sooner with appropriate notice.

Both contracts are for a year but there may be a possibility of extending by six months. Some experience of working with older adults and facilitating groups would be beneficial. In addition, both roles would be involved in summarising and evaluating the evidence base for new service developments as well as undertaking clinical audits. For the role in the Community you would need to be able to travel around our counties. Please make sure you are available to be interviewed in person on the 2nd September before you apply.

Main duties of the job

Helping facilitate and evaluate support or therapeutic groups Preparing materials for groups, booking rooms, sending out group correspondence Completing literature reviews Supporting psychologists with complex assessments, case discussions and formulations Supporting the delivery of individual psychological interventions, where appropriate Developing skills in working with people with additional cognitive and/or sensory needs Using excel to enter and evaluate audit data.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

BSc/BA Honours Degree at 2:1 or above in Psychology Eligibility for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.

Additional Criteria Essential

Able to meet the travel requirements of the role I understand that the Trust will not routinely provide sponsorship to work for this role, and employment on a time limited visa doesnt guarantee sponsorship at point of expiry.

Knowledge Essential

A good understanding of the needs and difficulties of patients within Older Adult Mental Health Knowledge and awareness of evidence-based practice relating to Older Adults including psychological assessment and therapy techniques

Experience Desirable

Experience of working with patients in the specified service area ideally as an assistant psychologist Other relevant paid or voluntary people-related work Research experience Experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working Experience in the assessment and delivering psychological interventions, including cognitive assessment and cognitive behavioural therapies
