Position Summary Fremont-Mills Community School District is seeking enthusiastic, student-centered Middle School Head Cheer Coaches for the 2026–2027 school year. We currently have two seasonal coaching opportunities available: Middle School Head Football Cheer Coach (Fall Season) Middle School Head Basketball Cheer Coach (Winter Season) These positions are responsible for leading the middle school cheer program during their respective seasons while fostering school spirit, teamwork, leadership, and a positive experience for student-athletes. The Head Cheer Coach will work collaboratively with students, families, staff, and administration to develop fundamental cheer skills, promote sportsmanship, and build enthusiasm for Fremont-Mills activities.
Responsibilities -Plan and lead practices that emphasize skill development, safety, and teamwork. -Prepare squads for athletic contests and other school-related performances. -Teach proper cheer, chant, motion, jump, and basic stunt techniques appropriate for the middle school level. -Promote school spirit and positive sportsmanship at all athletic events. -Foster a supportive and inclusive team culture that encourages leadership, responsibility, and personal growth. -Communicate effectively with students, parents, the Activities Director, and school administration. -Ensure compliance with all district, conference, and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) guidelines, as applicable. -Attend coaches' meetings and required professional development opportunities. -Assist in developing a positive and consistent cheer program that supports future success at the high school level. Qualifications -Coaching authorization or coaching endorsement issued by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (or the ability to obtain one prior to the season). -Knowledge of cheerleading fundamentals and appropriate safety practices. -Ability to positively motivate, mentor, and supervise middle school students. -Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. -Previous coaching or cheerleading experience is preferred but not required.
