Pittsburg Community Middle School Assistant Football Coach JOB DESCRIPTION PURPOSE: To assist the head coach in organizing, coordinating and promoting a comprehensive athletic program for football that is designed to meet the needs and interests of the school community. To provide effective leadership that will ensure a positive learning environment and will stress the importance of academic achievement. To demonstrate a high degree of ethics, professionalism, human relations and be a positive role model for all students. RESPONSIBLE TO: Head Coach and Activities Director. PAYMENT RATE: According to Negotiated Agreement QUALIFICATIONS: 1. USD 250 Faculty or KSHSAA Certification 2. Current Kansas State Teaching Certificate on file in Central Office or KSHSAA Certification on file with Athletic Director. 3. Health and inoculation certificate on file in the Central Office (after employment offer is made). 4. Desire to continue career improvement. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Comply with the rules and regulations of the USD 250 School District and the Kansas State High School Activities Association. 2. Attend all practices and games throughout the designated sports season unless otherwise cleared with the head coach and the Activities Director. 3. Implement the teaching of fundamentals, strategies, rules, and proper conditioning in the assigned sport at the direction of the head coach's direction. 4. Aid the head coach in providing an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship; compile and maintain accurate individual and team performance records; participate in the awards program(s) according to school procedure. 5. Ensure that adequate supervision is provided for all students involved in the program; provide for the safety of participants by inspecting facilities and equipment and being aware of environmental conditions. 6. Aid the head coach in issuing, collection, inventory, and storing equipment consistent with department guidelines. 7. Instruct participants in safety procedures and in the need to report injuries to the coach and/or parents immediately; implement appropriate procedures for handling injury situations; ensure the availability of a properly supplied first aid kit and emergency care cards at all times. 8.Attend a parent's meeting within the first week after practice has started. 9. Attend and participate in a one week of sport's camp during the summer. 10. Help coordinate and attend the end of the season party, which is put on by the booster club. 11. Perform other related duties as assigned by the head coach. 12. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
