Day Operator
Salary – up to £33,988 per annum Hours – 42 hours per week, 6am to 6pm Location & Postcode – Lincoln Energy from Waste Plant, LN6 3QW
As a Day Operator at FCC Environment, you will work as part of a team to support the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the weighbridge, cranes, main tipping hall and ash-loading activities at the Lincoln Energy from Waste Plant. You will operate mobile plant and machinery, assist with traffic management and carry out housekeeping tasks to help maintain plant availability.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working a rolling shift rota Monday to Friday, working an average of 4 days per week.

What will you be doing?
- Ensuring activities within the tipping hall and ash hall are carried out safely and in line with FCC procedures and Health and Safety requirements - Assisting with the coordination of vehicles delivering or collecting materials and products from the site - Operating the weighbridge in accordance with Duty of Care regulations, FCC policies and the requirements of Lincolnshire County Council - Operating overhead cranes, front-loader machinery, road sweepers, forklift trucks and other site machinery - Ensuring loads are recorded, weighed and dispatched effectively - Carrying out random inspections of delivered waste and reporting any non-conformances - Completing daily machinery checks and reporting any defects through the appropriate system - Ensuring high standards of housekeeping are maintained - Carrying out environmental monitoring checks and reporting any actual or potential environmental impacts - Supporting the Operations Team Leader with internal and external reporting - Taking part in team briefings and ensuring effective shift handovers - Providing cover for other team members and moving between tasks when required
What are we looking for?
- The ability to operate overhead cranes, front-loader machinery, forklift trucks and a weighbridge, although training will be provided - An understanding of Health and Safety and environmental legislation - An understanding of safe and efficient traffic management within a busy environment - Good written and verbal communication skills - Familiarity with a range of computer applications - A flexible approach and willingness to work across a wide range of operational areas - The ability to work independently, take responsibility and respond effectively in changing situations - A strong work ethic, good attention to detail and a commitment to safe working - A willingness to complete all required training, competency modules and relevant vehicle licences
