The PhD project aims to improve treatment outcomes for people with TB by combining clinical research, translational approaches, and secondary analyses of existing data. The candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to a range of complementary research activities, including participation in a dose-optimisation clinical trial, investigating factors associated with treatment outcomes, and analysing existing clinical trial data and/or samples. Depending on the specific research question, the work may involve clinical, laboratory, radiological, and/or computational approaches. The candidate will contribute to innovative research aimed at improving the effectiveness and personalisation of TB treatment strategies. Jouw werkplek The PhD position will be based within the Department of Pulmonary Diseases and embedded in the larger TB research group. The candidate will work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, with close interactions with researchers and clinicians from different departments and areas of expertise. An important aspect of this position is the opportunity to become part of several established national and international TB research networks. The candidate will be closely involved in the PORT trial, an international clinical trial investigating optimised rifampicin dosing for TB treatment, for which the supervisor serves as co-principal investigator (co-PI).
