Requirements: Extensive experience in performance architecture, performance engineering, and system optimization.Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles and distributed system design.Expertise in defining and managing non-functional requirements (NFRs).Experience creating sizing models, capacity planning strategies, and workload forecasting approaches.Deep knowledge of application, database, middleware, cloud, and infrastructure performance tuning.Proven ability to conduct end-to-end performance assessments and bottleneck analysis.Experience with performance testing methodologies and industry-standard monitoring tools.Strong stakeholder management skills, working with CTOs, enterprise architects, and senior leadership.Knowledge of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and large-scale distributed platforms.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making capabilities. Responsibilities: Define and govern the end-to-end performance strategy for applications, platforms, and enterprise solutions.Partner with enterprise architects, CTOs, and program leadership teams to ensure performance is considered throughout the solution lifecycle.Establish and validate non-functional requirements (NFRs) for scalability, availability, reliability, and response times.Develop sizing models, capacity plans, and workload forecasts to support business growth and operational demands.Identify, analyze, and resolve performance bottlenecks across application, database, integration, infrastructure, and cloud layers.Provide architecture recommendations to optimize system throughput, resilience, and resource utilization.Lead performance assessments during solution design, development, testing, and production readiness reviews.Define performance engineering standards, frameworks, tools, and governance processes across delivery teams.Drive performance risk management activities and recommend mitigation strategies for critical business systems.Mentor engineering and architecture teams on performance engineering best practices and emerging industry trends. We are supporting a client working on behalf of the British postal service and courier company to hire a Performance Architect for a hybrid role with three days onsite in London. This is a 12-month assignment with the likelihood of further extension. The role is focused on embedding performance engineering principles across the full solution lifecycle and influencing enterprise-wide technology decisions to ensure scalable, resilient, and high-performing platforms and applications.
