About this role

Job summary Be part of a team delivering exceptional trauma care

We are looking for experienced, compassionate individuals to join our plastics and dermatology outpatients team

This is a rewarding and varied environment where you will play a key role in supporting patients in the outpatient setting

Plastics and dermatology outpatients is a supportive and dynamic team where you will gain experience in trauma care and develop a wide range of clinical skills. You will be encouraged to grow, with access to training and opportunities to progress within your role.

Applicants who do not meet the full criteria for appointment at Band 3 may be appointed at Band 2 and supported through a structured development programme including completion of required competencies and qualifications with progression to Band 3 subject to evidence of competence and service need.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you will work closely with nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.

Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing and assisting in outpatient clinics Assisting with setting up minor procedure rooms Assisting in dressing clinics Collecting information from patients for clinics Undertaking enhanced clinical tasks such as:

Specimen collection Wound care and simple dressings

Supporting and guiding junior staff and new starters

This role can be physically and emotionally demanding, requiring resilience and a caring approach when supporting patients with trauma-related injuries.

Key Skills Essential

Ability to communicate clearly in English in writing, via IT, verbally and using the telephone

Experience & Knowledge Essential

Experience of working as a Healthcare Assistant Experience of caring for patients in an acute setting Experience of working within a team

Education and Qualifications Essential

Maths and English skills equivalent to Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy NVQ Level 2/3 in Health-related subject or equivalent NVQ / QCF Level 3 in a health-related subject or demonstrable equivalent experience supported by completion of a competency-based clinical skills framework

Completion of Care Certificate
