Purpose:
Reporting to the Manager, Finance & Tax, the Senior Tax Analyst will support the Canadian tax function with a primary focus on tax compliance execution, indirect tax support, tax reporting assistance, audit coordination, and maintenance of tax processes and documentation.
The role will work closely with Finance, Operations, and external advisors to ensure timely and accurate compliance with Canadian tax requirements while supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the Finance organization.
This role is intended to support the evolving structure of the Canadian Finance & Tax function by enabling the Manager, Finance & Tax to focus on strategic finance leadership, investment capital management, cross-functional initiatives, and tax oversight responsibilities.
What you'll do:
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Tax Compliance Support
• Prepare corporate income tax working papers and supporting schedules for external advisors
• Assist with annual T2 tax return preparation process and supporting analysis
• Maintain tax continuity schedules and supporting documentation
• Assist with preparation of tax-related reconciliations and supporting schedules
Tax Provision Support
• Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision preparation and supporting schedules
• Gather required information from accounting and finance teams
• Maintain provision working papers and supporting documentation
• Support tax reporting requirements and internal reporting requests
Indirect Tax Compliance & Operational Support
• Prepare monthly GST/HST/QST returns and related reconciliations
• Assist with indirect tax questions arising from business operations
• Support review of tax treatment on transactions and invoices
• Maintain indirect tax records and supporting documentation
Audit & Tax Authority Support
• Coordinate and organize audit documentation requests
• Assist with CRA and provincial tax audit support
• Maintain audit tracking schedules and supporting files
• Support responses to routine tax authority inquiries
Transfer Pricing & External Advisor Coordination
• Assist with preparation of transfer pricing support documentation
• Coordinate information requests from external tax advisors and consultants
• Maintain organized support files and tax records
Process Documentation & Continuous Improvement
• Maintain tax calendars, compliance trackers, and process documentation
• Assist in identifying process improvement opportunities
• Support standardization and documentation of tax processes and controls
• Participate in finance and tax continuous improvement initiatives as required
What it takes:
• CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA designation preferred
• 3–7 years of relevant accounting or tax experience
• Experience supporting Canadian corporate income tax and indirect tax compliance is required
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Experience with SAP and advanced Excel skills considered an asset
