Job Description Full time with 3 days a week in the office.<br><br>We are looking for a senior Python Developer/Software Engineer with strong backend and automation<br>experience. You will be responsible for designing, developing and testing software solutions in areas including<br>command line tools/scripts, APIs, and internal/external web applications. This is a hands-on role with the <br>expectation of progression to tech-lead level in the future with hiring/management responsibilities.<br><br>Herdify is a growing young B2B SaaS company, building a product to deliver behavioural science to consumer brands.<br>Working here you'll play a significant role building and shaping the product our customers use. <br><br>The role would suit someone who, as well as significant Python development experience, also has some<br>experience in frontend, database design, cloud infrastructure and devops. We work and develop exclusively on<br>Linux so a high level of familiarity of this is essential both on the Desktop and server.<br><br>Responsibilities<br>* Design, develop and test Python based applications<br>* Webserver development using FastAPI<br>* Design and maintenance of NoSQL and SQL databases<br>* Data scraping/cleaning/processing using Python<br>* Support Linux based servers<br>* Containerisation of applications<br>* Use test driven development to produce high quality, well documented and secure software<br><br>Essential experience<br>* Significant experience at senior developer level.<br>* Previous experience as tech lead/experience managing a small team of developers.<br>* Strong Python across backend, web application, api, automation, CLI and data processing development.<br>* Strong Linux for development, testing and deployment.<br>* Strong experience of developing web applications using FastAPI (or Django, Flask etc.)<br>* Developing websites using HTML/CSS/Javascript.<br>* Good knowledge of AWS (S3, Dynamodb, EC2, ECS, Cognito, DynamoDB, Firewalls, Load balancers, Route53)<br><br>Desired experience<br>* Working with a variety of data formats such as CSV, JSON, Parquet etc. at high volume and complexity.<br>* Comfortable working with NOSQL and SQL databases (SQLite and DynamoDB in particular)<br>* Writing moderately complicated SQL scripts.<br>* Containerising applications using Docker/Docker-compose<br>* Use of Git based workflows<br>* Understanding of devops best practices<br>* Creating and querying REST APIs<br>* Use of IAM for internal and external users<br>* Able to manage your own workload as and when required<br>* Convert high level requirements into detailed designs for implementation<br>* Communicate and collaborate effectively with other teams in the business<br><br>Bonus points for<br>* Experience with data science libraries (pandas, numpy, geopandas)<br>* Experience with visualisation libraries (d3, folium, plotly etc.)<br>* Web development using htmx, jinja2, Bootstrap, CSS and Selenium<br>* Other container systems such as Podman<br>* Infrastructure as code Cloudformation/Terraform etc.<br>* Databases such as MongoDB, DuckDB<br>* Experience working in small teams on early stage software<br><br>Applying<br>* If you have most of the things we are looking for please apply anyway.<br>* We also value diverse experience outside the areas listed as well.<br><br>What you'll get<br>* Stock options<br>* Competitive salary (£60-70K depending on experience)<br>* 25 days’ annual leave + public holidays<br>* Annual training allowance<br><br>Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK at the time of application.
