About this role
Job summary Working with a multidisciplinary infant feeding team, you'll provide skilled support to families during the early weeks after birth so that they feel informed, confident and supported in feeding their baby. This is a rewarding role where you will make a real difference to families at an important stage in their lives. You'll support parents who may be experiencing feeding challenges, uncertainty or low confidence, offering practical guidance and reassurance through a mix of face-to-face, home, community and digital contacts. Full training is provided, with opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills in infant feeding and evidence-based practice. What you'll do:
Provide practical infant feeding support, information and reassurance to parents Support families with feeding techniques, including breastfeeding, expressing and bottle feeding Deliver one-to-one and group sessions for parents and families Work with midwives, health visitors and other professionals to provide joined-up support Maintain accurate records and use digital systems to manage workload and communication

Qualifications Essential
Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent experience working in a healthcare, community or family support setting Demonstrable competence in using IT systems (e.g. Microsoft 365, digital communication platforms or similar) Willingness to undertake training in infant feeding and work towards relevant competencies
Desirable
Training in infant feeding support (e.g. Breastfeeding Peer Support, UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative or similar)
Knowledge Essential
Awareness of infant feeding, including breastfeeding and bottle feeding Understanding of the importance of supporting families in the early postnatal period Awareness of working with families from a range of backgrounds, including those experiencing health inequalities or complex needs Awareness of safeguarding responsibilities and the need to escalate concerns appropriately Understanding of working as part of a multidisciplinary team (e.g. midwives, health visitors, community services)

Awareness of UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) principles Awareness of local services or support available to families
