At St Leonard's Hospice, we are looking for skilled communicator to join as Communications Lead Clinical & Corporate to amplify the charity's message, supporting colleagues across clinical and corporate teams to:

Educate professionals about the services the Hospice offers, the range of conditions with which we support people and when/how to make referrals for the patients greatest benefitMaking sure patients, families and carers know what help the Hospice offers and how they can access our supportCampaigning for changes in public policy and awareness of palliative and end-of-life issues

This is a full-time role, working37.5 hours per week, usually Mon-Fri though occasional evening and weekend work will be required. This role supports working from home, though a regular presence on site at the Hospice is essential. The salary band for this role is£28,555 to £31,337per annum.

Main duties of the job

This post is intended to work collaboratively across the Hospice to create and share insight-based, audience-focused communications to engage our key audiences.

The role will involve creating compelling content for use across channels, showcasing the value of the Hospice's work and the difference it makes for patients, families and carers.

To fulfil the Communications Lead Clinical & Corporate role, you will need:

Job description Job responsibilities

Lead on the delivery of communications activity that supports the St Leonards Hospices (SLH) clinical and corporate objectives, specifically in the areas of:

Educating professionals about the services SLH offers, the range of conditions with which we support people and when/how to make referrals for the patients greatest benefit

Making sure patients, families and carers know what help SLH offers and how they can access our support

Campaigning for changes in public policy and awareness of palliative and end-of-life issues

Main duties and responsibilities

Professional

Support the Communications Manager to create, review and continuously improve communications plans for clinical and corporate activity at the Hospice.Lead on the delivery of communications activity, collaborating with clinical and corporate colleagues to achieve SLHs organisational objectives.Contribute to the development and monitoring of performance indicators that demonstrate progress towards SLHs organisational objectives, as well as the contribution of the Communications function to this success.Create compelling content for use across channels, showing the value of SLHs work and the difference it makes for patients, families and carers. This will include liaising with external media contacts.Proactively identify stories that capture SLHs impact.Engage with SLH beneficiaries to capture their feedback and stories, remaining at all times sensitive to and respectful of their lived experience.Create and collate content for newsletters, email and bulk communications.Update and refresh clinical and corporate area of the SLH website.Work with the Internal Communications Lead to ensure consistency in tone of voice and message in both internal and external messaging.

Additional duties

Proofread/quality check communications and marketing materials.Contribute to the development and implementation of SLH brand guidelines.Monitor social media, email and website performance and provide analytics.Respond to email, social media and website enquiries.

Communication Essential

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including good grammar and the ability to translate messages into accessible plain English Good presentation skills Persuasive and motivational Proven interpersonal skills Ability to communicate at all levels within the Hospice Confident in speaking with patients, families, and supporters

Qualifications Desirable

Educated to degree level Communications or marketing qualification

Experience Essential

Proven experience in marketing and communications in a similar role Experience in devising and evaluating integrated communications and marketing campaigns Proven track record of managing social media channels and developing paid social campaigns Website management Experience in creating compelling email campaigns Track record of using audience insights and competitor activity to build engagement Strong copywriter Creative and innovative thinker Strong organisational and planning skills Good attention to detail

Desirable

Photography, video and editing skills Knowledge of working in a charity environment

IT Essential

Strong IT skills Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) Experience with social media content management systems (Hootsuite etc) Experience using Mailchimp Experience using content management systems including WordPress

Experience in using Canva, photoshop and other creative platforms
