Job summary The Relief Kitchen Assistant will play a key role within Jewish Cares Hospitality Team, providing flexible catering support across our Campus, Care Homes, and Community Centres. Working on a relief basis to cover absence and service requirements, the postholder will support the delivery of high-quality hospitality services, helping to create welcoming and enjoyable dining experiences for residents, service users, visitors, and colleagues. The role involves assisting with basic food preparation, preparing dining areas, serving food and beverages, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and supporting the smooth running of kitchen services. Main duties of the job We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Relief Kitchen Assistant to join our Hospitality Team. Working on a flexible relief basis, you will support the delivery of excellent catering services across Jewish Cares Care Homes, Campuses, and Community Centres. You will assist with food preparation, maintain clean and safe kitchen environments, prepare dining areas, and support the serving of meals and refreshments. Our multi-award-winning organisation is looking to recruit a Relief Kitchen Assistant to join our Hospitality team. This role may include some weekend working.

The role of Kitchen Assistant will involve the delivery of Hospitality Services within our Campus, Care Homes, and Community Centres to excellent standards.

This post is for a Relief/ Bank Kitchen assistant to provide absence cover on an as and when required basis - casual hours.

What you will be doing You will have a key role ensuring we deliver an excellent service to our customers, creating an inviting and pleasant environment. Your core duties will involve:

Basic food preparation including vegetables, salads, and sandwiches Maintaining a clean, hygienic, and presentable environment Preparing and arranging food counters and dining areas, ready for service Serving hot & cold food and beverages Operating the till and cashing up when required

Who are we looking for? You will ideally have previous experience working within a busy kitchen environment, working both independently and within a team. You will need:

Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to undertake this qualification) Great communication skills, confident speaking to a range of people Good literacy and numeracy skills Willing to undertake appropriate training (e.g., Supervision, NVQ Training)
