Job summary The Relief Kitchen Assistant (Multi-Site) will play a key role within Jewish Cares Hospitality Team, providing flexible catering support across our Campus, Care Homes, and Community Centres in North West London. Working on a relief basis to support service needs and cover absence, the postholder will help deliver high-quality hospitality services and create welcoming dining experiences for residents, service users, visitors, and colleagues. The role involves assisting with basic food preparation, preparing food counters and dining areas, serving meals and beverages, maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and supporting the smooth running of kitchen services. Main duties of the job We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Relief Kitchen Assistant (Multi-Site) to join our Hospitality Team. Working flexibly across our North West London services, you will support the delivery of excellent catering services across Jewish Cares Care Homes, Campuses, and Community Centres. You will assist with food preparation, maintain clean and safe kitchen environments, prepare dining areas, serve food and refreshments, and help create positive dining experiences for the people we support. Our multi-award-winning organisation is looking to recruit a Relief Kitchen Assistant to join our Hospitality team. This role may include some weekend working.
The role of Relief Kitchen Assistant will involve the delivery of Hospitality Services within our Campus, Care Homes, and Community Centres to excellent standards.
This post is for bank/ relief staff working on a casual basis as and when required across our resources in North West London. This will cover Golders Green and Hendon and surrounding areas of Barnet.
The role is to cover absence and hours are not guaranteed. Shifts generally work 7am to 3pm with occasional weekends as and when required.
What you will be doing You will have a key role ensuring we deliver an excellent service to our customers, creating an inviting and pleasant environment. Your core duties will involve:
Basic food preparation including vegetables, salads, and sandwiches Maintaining a clean, hygienic, and presentable environment Preparing and arranging food counters and dining areas, ready for service Serving hot & cold food and beverages Operating the till and cashing up when required Who are we looking for? You will ideally have previous experience working within a busy kitchen environment, working both independently and within a team. You will need:
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to undertake this qualification) Great communication skills, confident speaking to a range of people Good literacy and numeracy skills Willing to undertake appropriate training (e.g., Supervision, NVQ Training)
