Reports to: Director of Special Education Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt Pay Grade: Clerical/Paraprofessional – 05 Minimum Annual Salary: $37,076 Duty Days: 230 days per year PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provides day-to-day support to the Director of Special Education and Supervisor of Deaf Education; Supports the coordination and the day-to-day operations of the Special Education department; Participates as a team member to support the mission of the Special Education department and Denton ISD. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent Some college or business school, preferred Current notary or ability to obtain Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines Ability to use computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases and do word processing; including but not limited to Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and DISD network. Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills Exceptional proofreading skills Experience: Experience in prior administrative assistance positions of increasing responsibility Campus or school district office experience (preferred) Experience with e-Finance (preferred) Experience with budget management (preferred) MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Provides office support to the Director and Supervisor including, but not limited to:
• Maintains calendar/schedule of events
• Maintains physical and computerized departmental files and databases
• Prepares correspondence, forms, reports, etc.
• Assists with the preparation of purchase requisitions and payment authorizations
• Efficiency in basic excel spreadsheets
• Maintain and assist in budget management
• Responds to phone, email, and in-person questions and concerns from district staff and vendors
• Communicates with campus administrators, department supervisors and other personnel in the absence of the Director
• Assists departmental supervisors and secretarial staff as needed and directed by the Director and Executive Director.
• Follows all rules, regulations, and policies of Denton ISD and directives from supervisors.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interprets policy, procedures and data; coordinates district functions; maintains emotional control under stress. Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Frequent district-wide and occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions.
