Project Accountant - Ipswich based

The Role

The Project Accountant is responsible for establishing a combination of:

Robust project finance processes across Willis Re’s project portfolioActing as a key business partner to the Chief of Staff, who oversees all project undertakings across the group, and the Group CIO.The role also incorporates technical accounting responsibilities for cost capitalization, identification and capturing of the information required to support UK Research & Development (R&D) tax credit claims, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements and maximization of eligible relief.

The role will also oversee the design and implementation of the Workday Financials project module in conjunction with our delivery partners, you will deliver to the project management team the system tools and processes they can utilise to ensure accurate financial management and oversight of projects, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Process owner for Project management Financial control and reporting - including budgeting, forecasting, and capitalisationResponsible for the design and business implementation of the Workday Project module Delivery of training, user guides and business acceptance of project financial procesesEstablish the framework for determining the requirements, capturing the data and supporting the claim process for R&D tax credits in the UKWorking alongside tax support to optimise the tax efficiency of projects, including assessment of global resource deployment and contracting and tax credit maximization

Skills & Experience

Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)Strong technical accounting knowledgeProject accounting or business partnering experienceExperience of system implementation, especially project management systemsAdvanced Excel skillsMonthly reporting and performance analysisTechnical accounting support (IAS 38, IFRS 15, FRS 102)Preparation and optimisation of UK R&D tax credit claims (SME / RDEC)Budgeting, forecasting, and financial modellingMaintain strong internal controlsStakeholder engagement and business partnering
