About this role
Reports To: Executive Director for School Nutrition Terms of Employment: Permanent, 12 Month Position Nature of Work: The primary purpose of this position is to perform maintenance tasks at School Nutrition facilities under occasional supervision using a variety of technical guidelines. Work involves preventive maintenance on equipment and facilities, repairing equipment, lifting and moving equipment and/or food supplies when assembling and/or installing equipment where needed. Most work would be completed at various school sites within the district. The employee would need to analyze and exercise discretionary judgment in most situations. General direction will be given. Qualifications and Licensure:
• High School Diploma
• Basic vocational training and/or work experience in the areas of electrical, natural gas, refrigeration, basic plumbing, and carpentry
• Valid NC Driver's License
• Skilled knowledge of the tools, equipment, methods, and practices that would be used
• Knowledge of environmental regulations
• Ability to communicate verbally, in writing, and electronically with others on a daily basis
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Follows schedule as directed by School Nutrition Executive Director or designee
• Works with School Nutrition personnel to develop a preventative maintenance plan and schedule for equipment.
• Complete the preventative maintenance while exercising considerable judgment in determining if work should be assigned to self, district facility services, or commercial repair companies
• Performs skilled work at all School Nutrition locations
• Maintain, repair, assemble, and/or install School Nutrition Services equipment such as ovens, braising pans, refrigerators, freezers, steamers, and other equipment as needed.
• Work with School Nutrition personnel to obtain price quotes, ordering, and scheduling along with quality control of contracted School Nutrition work.
• Ensures that the school nutrition facilities adhere to all codes and regulations
• Examines School Nutrition facilities on a regular basis to monitor needs and causes of equipment or facility problems and informs the Executive Director of School Nutrition while also ensuring that corrections are made.
• Maintains appropriate inventory of materials, tools, repair parts, and equipment needed
• Maintains responsibility for all materials, tools, repair parts and equipment used by School Nutrition Services.
• Assesses needs and causes of equipment or facility problems
• Will be on call for emergencies outside of working hours to assist should equipment or the facility need immediate service
• Adheres to Wilson County Schools Board Policies along with guidelines provided by School Nutrition Executive Director
• Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to exert up to 150 pounds of force to move objects such as equipment
• Climb and maneuver on ladders or in tight spaces
• Physical demands that occur with heavy work
Special Requirements (if applicable)
• Must have a valid NC Driver's License
