St. Johnsbury School District has an opening for Full-Time Substitute. The St. Johnsbury School District (STJSD) serves more than 1,000 students, Pre-K through 8th grade and tuition our high school students to several area public and independent high schools. St. Johnsbury School District has approximately 550 students in Prek to Grade 8 and approximately 200 full-time employees all in one school. We have an excellent outdoor educational space, new playgrounds and a dedicated team with an emphasis on employee wellness. We are located 4 minutes from I-91 at Exit 21. Being a full-time substitute means that each day you arrive at work you may be assigned to be either a paraeducator or a teacher and in any of the preschool through grade 8 classrooms. The role offers diverse possibilities. The individual must be willing to work across grades and in either position. It could be a classroom teacher aide (paraeducator) or a one-on-one with a particular student support or the classroom teacher. The full-time substitute must be flexible and comfortable working in an array of locations, situations and multi-level floor school building including outside for recess. The school is not air conditioned. You must enjoy working with children of all ages. Requirements: Must be able to pass an Agency of Human Service and criminal fingerprint background check to work in the school. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred. Full-time substitutes get vested in the State Municipal's Pension after 5 years of service. Full-time substitutes work 175 school days, 4 professional development days and receive 8 paid holidays. They receive 12 sick days, 2 emergency days, 3 personal days, 5 bereavement days. BCBS of Vermont is the health insurance. The employer pays the first $2200 for single coverage or $4400 for multi-person plan of the out of pocket costs plus 100% of prescription costs. Employer pays for single dental coverage, employee's life insurance and employee's long term disability insurance. We have an amazing Employee Wellness program.
