Job SummaryYou will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the FACILITIES INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. Salary Range: GS-09: $70,507 - $91,664 GS-11: $85,307 - $110,905
QualificationsFor the GS-11 position: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and CAD sketches, cross-referencing them with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and technical manuals; 2) Independently verifying that all industrial plant equipment (IPE) installations meet stringent facilities requirements documents and comply with state and federal codes and regulations; 3) Directing contractor activities on-site and ensuring strict adherence to DBIDS and base security protocols; 4) Utilizing real-time tracking databases and digital project management tools (such as MAXIMO and CMPro) to track project management tasks; 5) Managing projects to guarantee completion within budget and on-schedule without interrupting active depot-level production; and 6) Managing all aspects of complex, multi-system facility Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (SRM) projects while serving as the primary technical authority to resolve conflicting design issues and ensure seamless facility repairs. For the GS-09 position: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and CAD sketches to identify physical space and utility layouts; 2) Assisting in reviewing industrial plant equipment (IPE) installation plans to identify compliance with basic facility requirements and safety codes; 3) Coordinating with on-site personnel and escorting or monitoring contractors to ensure compliance with basic safety and security rules; 4) Entering and tracking facilities work orders, equipment conditions, or project updates in a digital database (such as MAXIMO, CMPro, or equivalent systems); 5) Monitoring project timelines and reporting potential delays or production interferences to higher-level project managers; and 6) Managing routine or well-defined facility modernization and Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (SRM) projects of limited scope, applying standard engineering practices to ensure facility repairs meet the needs of the end user. Major DutiesYou will serve as the primary liaison between customers and plant management, translating specific tenant requests, production changes, and customer feedback into actionable, refined facility requirementsYou will provide assistance in developing a Facility Acquisition Strategy to address shortfalls and a Facility Disposition/Rehabilitation Strategy to address excess or obsolete facilities.You will coordinate formal engineering and feasibility studies to identify physical bottlenecks and analyze supporting utility systems.You will implement continuous process improvements that directly boost the efficiency of active industrial processing and support shops.You will lead the planning, acquisition, installation, modification, and modernization of critical real property systems—including HVAC, fire protection, industrial boilers, and electrical distribution systems.You will coordinate and manage engineering investigations or studies as well as assist in the review of architectural and engineering (A/E) designs while verifying and validating projects.
