About this role

MLL Teacher Must have appropriate RI teacher certification or be eligible to obtain that certification: All Grades English to Speakers of Other Languages, Grades PK-12 Requirements: 1. Valid Rhode Island Certification as an MLL Educator. 2. Three years of successful classroom teaching. 3. Understanding of second language acquisition. 4. Knowledge of current trends in instructional strategies, curriculum development and evaluation techniques for MLL students. 5. Knowledge of Chapter 16-54 and other regulations pertaining to the education of students with limited English proficiency. 6. Must be computer literate. 7. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Must have appropriate RI teacher certification or be eligible to obtain that certification: All Grades English to Speakers of Other Languages Teacher, Grades PK-12 1.Identify, assess, and monitor students eligible for MLL services. 2.Assists in the testing of language proficiency and academic achievement. 3.Acts as a resource to parents of children in the MLL program to facilitate their involvement in the education of their children. 4.Assists principals in developing an effective school-home liaison network. 5.Serves as a resource to administrators, MLL teachers, classroom teachers and parents regarding the educational and effective needs of MLL students. 6.Assists in representing the issues of students with language and cultural differences in school improvement/restructuring efforts. 7.Maintains student records, including the student census. 8.Schedules appropriate language assessments prior to special education referral. 9.Assumes other duties and assignments that may be made from time to time by the Assistant Superintendent and/or building administrator.
