About this role

Job summary

Applications are invited from a highly motivated and dynamic Doctor to apply for a vacancy within our Acute Medicine team on MAU / AMRU

The Acute and integrated community care directorate at Macclesfield District General Hospital is looking for 4 highly motivated and dynamic medical registrars to apply for a vacancy within our Acute Medicine team on a fixed term contract for 12 months.

We are excited to offer this opportunity at a pivotal time of development for the service. With secured funding for a brand new 8 bedded Acute Medical Receiving Unit scheduled to open in June 2026, this post will place the successful candidates at the heart of an ambitious andprogressive transformation in the hospitals acute care delivery.

The basic salary for this role is outlined above based on a 40 hour working week. In addition, there will be enhancements for additional rostered hours (over 40), night rate hours and weekend working allowance in line with the relevant Nodal Point under the new Resident Doctor Contract 2016 pay scales. The value of the enhancement for the role can be provided upon request, however, this is subject to any future rota changes in line with service need.

This post is available for a fixed term from 1-Aug-2026 to 31-Jul-2027

Hours per week: 40 (inclusive on 1 in 16 on-call rota)

Main duties of the job

Duties include;

o Assessment and management of patients on MAU, AMRU and SDEC

o Input and attendance at consultant ward rounds

o Liaising with Multidisciplinary teams while formulating management plans

o Ensure all results are acted upon appropriately and in a timely manner

o Participation in Quality Improvement projects

o Participation in medical registrar on call rota (Must be able to operate effectively on-call

out of hours as sole medical registrar if required)

o Support and supervise junior colleagues

o Undertaking any necessary tasks identified and requested by senior staff

The successful candidate will participate in out of hours on call alongside ST3+ training doctors.

You must have 12 months UK NHS experience.

Person Specification

Qualification Essential

MBBS or equivalent medical qualification MRCP (Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians) Part 1

Eligbility Essential

Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice including: Good clinical care Maintaining good medical practice Good relationships and communication with patients Good working relationships with colleagues Good teaching and training Professional behaviour and probity Delivery of good acute clinical care 12 months NHS experience Able to operate effectively on-call out of hours as sole medical registrar if required

Fitness to Practise Essential

Clinical Skills Essential

Acute care safe: up-to-date ALS.
