About this role

Job summary

A permanent 37.5 hour full-time opportunity for a Screening Officer has become available within the Adult Social Care Contact Team, supporting the various integrated social care teams across the City.

The Adult Social Care Contact Team is the first point of contact for people who live in Salford who may need to access social care services. Within this role, you will be required to work closely with colleagues to provide information, advice and support to adults and their carers who may be eligible for assessment and care services under the Care Act 2014.

We strive to support people to live well and to be safe at home. We do this by having strength-based conversations to support people to promote their wellbeing. We work closely with other organisations to ensure that people are well connected with their local communities and can work towards people achieving their personal outcomes.

Main duties of the job

You will be the firstpoint of contact for the person requesting support.

You will undertake strength-based conversations with people , supporting them to maximise their wellbeing.

You will offera person centered approach ensuring a compassionate and personalised approach

You will screen and process referrals received via e-mail, electronic portal or telephone

Providing ad hoc administrative support as required

The successful applicant will have excellent customer care and communication skills with a clear understanding of customers and their needs.

You will have a keen eye for attention to detail and the experience and ability to use various computerised packages including Microsoft Office applications.

You will need to input accurately and efficiently into various database systems and be able to demonstrate attention to detail when handling sensitive personal data.

You will be required to be an effective team player and be able to work on your own initiative, with excellent organisational skills, prioritising your own workload when necessary.

You must have a flexible approach to work and positively embrace change.

Potential TUPE Transfer

Adult Social Care services in Salford are currently delivered by Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust and are expected to transfer to Salford City Council during 2026.

As this role forms part of those services, the successful candidate is likely to transfer to Salford City Council under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006 (TUPE), subject to the transfer proceeding as planned. Any transfer would be managed through the appropriate formal process, including consultation and support for affected employees.

Qualification Essential

5 x GCSE's (to include English and Maths) or equivalent qualifications

Desirable

NVQ 2/3 in Customer Care or equivalent experience

Skills and knowledge Essential

Knowledge of a range of computer software systems, including microsft office applications A good understanding of Data Protection and the importance of confidentiality Abilty to accurately update systems and input data Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, prioritising workload where appropriate To have a positive attitude to change and to contribute to on-going improvement by responding pro-actively To work closely and flexibly with colleagues, including third party and partner organisations, supporting each other, and integrated working Excellent communication skills
