Main duties of the job
As a Thoracic Consultant Surgeon, you will take a leadership role in delivering exceptional clinical care to patients requiring Thoracic surgical procedures. Your responsibilities will include performing complex surgeries with precision, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes, and contributing to the development of innovative treatment approaches. You will play a critical role in mentoring junior staff, advancing research initiatives, and upholding the highest standards of patient safety and care.

Professional Qualifications Essential
Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise and possess FRCS Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: oCCST (proposed CCST date must be within 6 months of interview) An appropriate higher thoracic surgical qualification.

Higher Academic Degree
Clinical Experience Essential
Excellent clinical skills (ability to carry out complex lung resections) Proven track record on minimally invasive surgery Capacity to use and develop a wide range of theoretical approaches. Record of consistent academic activity including publications of scientific articles on national and international journals on Thoracic surgical and lung cancer topics Involvement in the clinical audit process and an understanding of its aims and objectives.

Proven Record of benign chest wall surgery procedures performed Role in national and international Thoracic Surgical/lung cancer societies Understanding and proven ability to apply research findings in a clinical / organisational context.
