*Position Overview*
St. John Ambulance BC & Yukon (SJA BCY) is seeking knowledgeable and engaging Faculty Instructors to deliver standardized first aid and CPR training programs. This role requires strong instructional ability, professionalism, and a commitment to maintaining high training standards and learner engagement. Faculty Instructors operate within a matrixed reporting structure, reporting to the Branch Manager for operational matters and to the Director of Training, Compliance & People for training, instructional standards, and compliance-related matters.
*Key Responsibilities *
_Instructional Delivery:_
* Deliver standardized first aid and CPR courses in alignment with St. John Ambulance curriculum and instructional standards * Adapt instructional methods to meet diverse learner needs and experience levels * Demonstrate proper first aid techniques and supervise learner practice activities * Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
_Learner Assessment & Support:_
* Evaluate learner performance through written, verbal, and practical assessments * Provide clear, constructive feedback to support skill development * Ensure all certification requirements are met prior to issuing completion status * Support learners who require additional coaching or remediation
_Professionalism & Representation:_
* Represent St. John Ambulance in a professional manner at all times * Communicate clearly and respectfully with learners, clients, and community partners * Uphold organizational policies, procedures, and instructional standards * Arrive prepared and punctual for all scheduled training sessions
_Equipment & Classroom Management:_
* Prepare, organize, and transport training materials and equipment as required * Set up and dismantle classroom or training environments efficiently * Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and inventory checks of training equipment * Clean and sanitize all training equipment (including mannequins, AED trainers, and props) after each use in accordance with hygiene and safety standards * Report damaged or missing equipment promptly
_Administrative Duties:_
* Complete required course documentation, attendance records, and evaluation forms accurately and on time * Submit course reports and paperwork in accordance with organizational timelines * Ensure compliance with certification and audit requirements * Maintain current instructor certification and required professional development
_Health, Safety & Compliance:_
* Follow all occupational health and safety procedures during training delivery * Ensure safe handling and use of all training equipment * Maintain compliance with St. John Ambulance policies, provincial regulations, and training standards * Identify and report any safety concerns or incidents immediately
*Qualifications and Skills*
_Education & Professional Requirements:_
* Post-secondary education in education, health sciences, or a related field is preferred (or an equivalent combination of education and instructional experience).
· Current First Aid Instructor certification (St. John Ambulance or recognized equivalent)
* Experience facilitating adult learning in classroom, practical, or blended learni
