About this role

Job summary

To support the provision of information, guidance and advice as required to the Trust regarding Information Governance matters as part of a wider Information Governance Team which undertake the following functions:

Subject Access Requests (SAR) under the Data Protection Act 2018 Freedom of Information (FOI) requests under the FOI Act 2000 Records Management: archiving of records including filing, tracking and the correct application of destruction schedules Confidentiality and Caldicott Support Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) Incident Management Information Risk Management Information Security Data Protection Duties

Main duties of the job

To support the implementation of the Information Governance Framework for the Trust taking into account legislation and NHS requirements as set out in the DSPT. To assist the IG Manager/Officers in completion of the DSPT. To be responsible for the processing of Individuals' Rights Requests and subject access requests under the Data Protection and Access to Health Records Acts. Ensuring that any problems where statutory timescales may not be met are immediately raised with appropriate managers. To be responsible for the processing of requests under the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations. Ensuring that any problems where statutory timescales may not be met are immediately raised with appropriate managers. Provide advice and guidance to patients and their relatives regarding their rights of access. To ensure the Trust's FOI publication scheme is regularly reviewed and updated with the names and post titles of appropriate managers. To assist in the coordination and implementation of effective Information Governance throughout the Trust encompassing the domains of Information Governance pertinent to the Trust: Information security Data protection Freedom of Information Caldicott Confidentiality Information Sharing Records Management

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Good standard of literacy and numeracy

Desirable

Evidence of continuing professional development. Interest in Information Governance, Data Protection or Records Management. Relevant qualifications or training in Information Governance, Data Protection, Records Management or related subjects. Relevant qualifications or training in Information Governance, Data Protection, Records Management or related subjects.

Experience Essential

Previous administrative or office experience. Experience supporting senior managers or teams. Experience of handling confidential information. Experience of managing and prioritising workload.

Desirable

Experience within the NHS or public sector. Experience within an Information Governance, Records Management or compliance environment.

Knowledge Essential

Understanding of confidentiality and the importance of handling sensitive information appropriately. Awareness of the importance of information governance within healthcare organisations. Good understanding of Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

Knowledge of Data Protection legislation. Awareness of Freedom of Information requirements. Awareness of Records Management principles Understanding of NHS Information Governance requirements.

Skills / Abilities Essential

Excellent IT skills. Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain information clearly and sensitively. Ability to review information, identify issues and seek appropriate advice where required. Able to communicate effectively using the English language in both verbal and written forms. Ability to work autonomously and proactively. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Good organisational skills Able to prioritise work effectively and deal with non-routine tasks under pressure.

Access to transport and the ability to travel within the required geographical area
