Job summary
We are currently looking to recruit a full time and permanent Assistant Psychologist (AP) from extant RDaSH staff to work with the inpatient Clinical Psychology team. The main focus of this AP role is to (a) support the Clinical Psychologists in their work, (b) carry a small caseload and deliver effective and competent low intensity psychological interventions both in groups and 121, (c) screen and risk assess patients suitability for an inpatient psychological intervention and (d) manage and maintain a multi-strand clinical governance and ongoing research programme. On the wards, we have a small team of supportive, compassionate and value-driven Clinical Psychologists who are passionate about providing high quality clinical inpatient care and influencing the wider delivery of care through the inpatient MDT and regularly contributing the the evidence base for inpatient psychological interventions.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have experience of working within Adult Mental Health services and will be eligible for graduate membership of the BPS. They will have knowledge of the many challenges faced by people with severe and enduring mental health problems who are in crisis and require admission; particularly those with experiences of trauma and where they may have difficulties in interpersonal relationships.
The successful candidates will receive management supervision from the ward team manager and clinical supervision from a Clinical Psychologist.

Qualifications Essential
Completed University degree in Psychology and achieved a 2.1 or a 1st grade. Eligibility for graduate membership of British Psychological Society
Desirable
Further post graduate training in relevant areas of psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis and/or completion of a Masters degree
Experience Essential
Experience of working with people with mental health problems who are in crisis.
