Job Description Summary The Rotating Machines Test Leader oversees all High Voltage (HV) test operations on site, ensuring all testing activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards and procedures. This role will have a strong focus on driving the highest levels of safety performance, leading test planning and execution, and ensuring the integrity and reliability of all HV testing activities. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for on-site Rotating Machines HV test operations, coordinate personnel and resources, enforce safe systems of work, and promote a strong safety culture across all testing activities. Additionally, in this leadership role- they will help deliver the vision and strategy for improvements to enhance our Rotating Machines Test Area, with a veiw to making it world class for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost
Job Description Key Responsibilities Safety Leadership
• Lead all High Voltage test operations with safety as the highest priority. • Ensure strict compliance with all site safety rules, electrical safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), isolation practices, and permit-to-work systems. Develop, review, and approve risk assessments, method statements, and test procedures before execution. • Conduct pre-job safety briefings, toolbox talks, and hazard reviews with test teams and relevant stakeholders. • Monitor test activities on site to ensure adherence to safe working practices and immediate intervention where unsafe acts or conditions are identified. Act as the key point of contact for safety-related matters during HV testing operations • Drive continuous improvement in safety performance through lessons learned, incident reviews, and proactive risk reduction measures. Test Operations Management
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise all on-site Rotating Machines HV test activities. • Ensure test programs are executed in accordance with project schedules, quality standards, and technical requirements. • Set up team onto a shift system and support onboarding of new staff to allow permanent 2 shifts • Oversee the setup, commissioning, operation, and breakdown of HV test equipment. • Ensure all test equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and fit for purpose. • Coordinate interfaces with project teams, commissioning teams, operations personnel, contractors, and clients as required. • Manage test resources effectively to support safe and efficient execution and maintaining utilisation. Technical Leadership
• Provide technical expertise in High Voltage testing, fault investigation, and diagnostics. • Review test results, identify anomalies, and support root cause analysis for failures or non-conformances. • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures. • Support the development and continuous improvement of HV test methodologies and best practices. • Mentor and guide technicians in test practices and safe working behaviors • Be a strong role model and embody the GE Vernova Ways. • Ensure accurate and complete recording of test data and operational activities. • Verify that all testing is carried out in line with approved specifications, standards, and customer requirements. • Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews related to HV testing and site operations. • Promote a culture of accountability, procedural compliance, and operational excellence. Required Qualifications
• HNC/HND or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent in a related discipline. • Significant experience in High Voltage testing, commissioning, or electrical test operations. • Demonstrated experience leading on-site test activities in industrial, utility, power generation, transmission, or similar environments. • Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards, HV isolation practices, and safe systems of work. • Experience preparing and reviewing risk assessments, method statements, and technical test procedures. • Familiarity with applicable industry codes, standards, and testing requirements. Preferred Qualifications
• Formal authorization for HV switching, isolation, or test operations. • Experience in complex site environments involving multiple stakeholders and contractors. • Demonstrated experience of coordinating Test operations and staff in Rotating machines Electro-Mechanical testing • First Aid, safety leadership, or other relevant site safety certifications. • Minimum of HNC in Electrical Engineering Key Skills and Competencies
