Job Description Summary The Lead Global Process Engineer (GPE) will work closely with the Global Manufacturing Engineering Leader, the primary focus area will be developing, qualifying, and improving processes across the L5 repair shops (primary) and L4 shops (secondary).
Job Description Roles and Responsibilities
• Develop, Qualify, and Improve manufacturing processes primarily for the L5 shops and secondarily for the L4 shops. • Partner with the Global Manufacturing Engineering Leader and the Senior GPE for Machining to deploy global standards and maintain adherence. • Validate engineering specifications and shop floor application of new processes. Including EHS, Manufacturing Engineers, Engineering, Quality, Materials, Industrialization, Materials, and Sourcing. • Partner with channels on the development of new repair processes and qualifications. • Develop and implement reliability improvement strategies using industry best practices such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). • Collaborate with maintenance, operations, engineering, and safety teams to design and implement preventive and predictive programs. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing equipment downtime and improve quality processes. • Lead investigations into failures and chronic issues, identifying root causes and implementing robust corrective actions to eliminate the problems from re-occuring. • Provide technical support for asset management, including equipment life cycle analysis and spare parts optimization. • Train local factory manufacturing engineers to deepen their expertise in process and equipment. • Participate in the design and installation of new equipment and implementation of processes, ensuring reliability is considered from the outset (Design for Reliability). • Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work. • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and can construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision. • Will lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
Additional Requirements
• Engage design for SixSigma methodology (DFSS), including, measuring existing machine capability, analyzing process requirements, and developing a strategy to maintain / improve process yield. • Deploy lean principles, including, 3P (Production Preparation Process), Total Productive Maintenance, Jidoka, PQ/PR, Takt Cycle, Standard Work, Value Stream Maps, Kaizen, 4D/8D/A3 Problem Solving, and Poka Yoke.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college with a proven industrial experience in manufacturing or quality or significant industrial experience in manufacturing or quality with High School Diploma or equivalent. • Proven experience in a technical role (manufacturing engineer or similar) with expertise in Machining processes and equipment (ex: grinding, milling, turning, EDM, etc). • Strong knowledge of engineering concepts and quality processes • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, drawings, and schematics • Project Management skills and experience
