About this role

Job summary

Are you a highly motivated, forward thinking, registered nurse with an interest in developing your career within oncology/haematology chemotherapy?

We are looking for a Band 5 nurse, with experience in IV therapy and cannulation who is interested in working with chemotherapy/SACT patients within our busy nurse-led Macmillan chemotherapy day unit.

You will be supported developing your skills, and knowledge within this specialist field alongside completing the SACT university module and the SACT Passport.

Main duties of the job

To ensure that an individual programme of care is planned, implemented and evaluated for each patient within own sphere of responsibility. To work as part of the multidisciplinary team ensuring the delivery of a high standard of care to the patients. Support patients and carers in their information needs To participate in all relevant aspects of the Governance process. The post holder will adhere to the NMC code of Professional Conduct at all times and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures. To safely administer chemotherapy in keeping with local and national policy To act as a positive role model at all times.

Person Specification

Education/ Qualifications Essential

oFirst Level registration nursing qualification. oEvidence of continuing professional development oIV drug administration certificate.

Desirable

oRecognised Chemotherapy qualification or equivalent oRelevant post-registration qualification in cancer oAssessors /Mentorship qualification

Knowledge & Experien Essential

oMinimum of 12 months post registration experience in an acute clinical setting.

Previously worked with cancer patients

Skills, Abilities and Attributes Essential

oCannulation and phlebotomy skills oMedication administration skills, including IV administration oIT skills oAble to communicate effectively and sensitively with people of all capabilities and attitudes

oCompetent in the care and management of CVADs
