About the Role The Emergency Department Charge Nurse oversees clinical functions related to the delivery of patient care, the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care for the assigned shift. Directs patient care activities by assigning staff and functions on the unit based on the Charge RN’s assessment of patient needs and the relative skills and abilities of staff, while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit-specific expertise. *This is a 12-hour shift Performs professional nursing duties that integrate clinical expertise, critical thinking, and age-appropriate patient care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and advocate for patients and their families throughout the continuum of care. Serves as a clinical leader and resource for staff, promoting high-quality, patient-centered care while ensuring adherence to organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards. Demonstrates advanced clinical expertise, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families to promote excellence in care delivery and operational effectiveness.
