Job summary
The Research Analyst supports the delivery of research projects, playing an important role in creating a robust and credible evidence base for the organisation to effectively influence national policy. The post sits within the organisations policy and analysis directorate and works closely with colleagues across our networks, communications and commercial teams.
The postholder will be responsible for analysing quantitative and qualitative research, including member survey data. They will also conduct desk-based research projects across a range of topics that relate to the issues facing the NHS. The postholder will regularly analyse NHS, health or relevant datasets, becoming an internal expert over time. The postholder will need to be able to tailor communications to different audiences.

As a Research Analyst you will:
Contribute to a high-quality evidence base for the organisation by using quantitative and qualitative research methods.Support proactive and reactive research and analysis projects across multiple policy areas and the media.Build and analyse member research, including surveys, to improve understanding of the challenges facing members and the NHS.Monitor and analyse NHS performance and health datasets, identifying trends and supporting colleagues with insight.Maintain data quality in central spreadsheets and dashboards to effectively communicate findings through graphs, infographics and dashboards.

Contribute to a high quality evidence base for the organisation by using quantitative and qualitative research methods, supporting the development of robust, accurate and timely analysis.Support proactive and reactive research and analysis projects across multiple policy areas, working with colleagues across the strategic policy directorate, networks, communications and commercial teams.Deliver high quality desk based research and analytical outputs that support policy briefings, media enquiries and external publications, ensuring work is accurate, clear and well presented.Build and analyse member research, including surveys, to improve understanding of the challenges facing members and the NHS, accurately reflecting member views and maintain up to date and reliable member information.Monitor and analyse NHS performance and health datasets, including tracking activity, targets, quality and patient experience metrics, identifying trends and supporting colleagues with insight - often at pace.Maintain data quality in central spreadsheets and dashboards, while implementing good data cleaning and validation processes and using high-quality data visualisations to effectively communicate findings through graphs, infographics and dashboards.Apply project management practices across projects and tasks, working with other team members to set milestones, engage stakeholders, and present findings clearly to internal and external audiences.Manage own workload and contribute effectively to the team, delivering agreed research tasks to time, building relationships across the directorate, and developing skills in different research methods and analytical tools.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Analytical experience in quantitative and/or qualitative research, including the ability to analyse survey data.
A solid understanding of quantitative analysis using Microsoft Excel, including producing high-quality data visualisation in this programme or other data visualisation tools such as Power BI.
A knowledge of NHS data sets and where to find them, or examples ofpreviousexperience researching andsourcingdata across any field.
Strong attention to detail and using robust data cleaning and validation practices to ensure work is to a high standard.
Experience of working as part of a team to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organisational skills underpinned by good project management practices.
Desirable
An understanding of the UK health system, the NHS, or related public policy including experience of analysing NHS datasets.
Experience using SPSS, R, survey tools and/or other data analysis software.
