Seeking Summer Graduate Student Research Assistant to Support Programs Focused on Cancer Prevention and Health Disparities at the Harvard Cancer Consortium Community Outreach and Engagement Position Description: The Harvard Cancer Consortium (HCC) Community Outreach and Engagement team is seeking a Graduate Student Research Assistant who will help support their mission of ensuring HCC activities reduce the burden of cancer for Massachusetts residents and beyond through community outreach and engagement efforts. Under the direction of the Senior Program Manager and COE Leadership, the Graduate Research Assistant (RA) will assist in supporting the Senior Program Manager in coordinating and implementing COE initiatives related to cancer prevention, cancer screening, early detection, care pathways, and educating underserved communities in Massachusetts. This position will work as part of the Viswanath Lab led by Dr. K “Vish” Viswanath.

The RA will conduct background research through literature reviews and searches to identify evidence-based programing, initiatives, and best practices to inform community-engaged program planning and implementation. Additionally, the RA will contribute to developing and maintaining a resource inventory of community outreach and educational materials for research and community partners. Lastly, the RA will provide general program planning and administrative support to the Senior Program Manager as needed.

Preferred Skills: Experience conducting literature reviews and background research; strong writing skills, with the ability to synthesize information and prepare concise write-ups to inform next steps. Prior experience with community-engaged research is preferred. Familiarity with Canva is a plus.

Expected schedule: Up to 30 hours/week from July through September, with possibility of additional hours. The position requires availability to start in June and a commitment through August 2026, with potential extension through Fall 2026 semester. A hybrid schedule is preferred. The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.

For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
