Currituck County High School is seeking a dedicated and skilled Carpentry Teacher to join our Career & Technical Education (CTE) department. The Carpentry Teacher will provide students with hands-on training and instruction in construction and woodworking, preparing them for post-secondary opportunities, industry certifications, and careers in the skilled trades. Responsibilities:
• Plan, deliver, and assess engaging carpentry and construction lessons aligned with North Carolina CTE standards.
• Provide hands-on instruction in safety, tool use, construction techniques, blueprint reading, and carpentry projects.
• Supervise and ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and materials in the shop and lab setting.
• Incorporate employability skills, workplace readiness, and career awareness into classroom instruction.
• Maintain accurate student records and documentation as required by district and state regulations.
• Build partnerships with local industry and workforce development programs to support student learning and internships.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.
Qualifications:
• Current North Carolina teaching license in Trade & Industrial Education – Carpentry or the ability to obtain a CTE license through work experience and/or industry certifications.
• Significant carpentry/construction experience required.
• OSHA 10/30, NCCER, or related certifications preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
