Currituck County Schools - Distance Learning Teacher Assistant Position: Distance Learning Teacher Assistant Location: Currituck County High School Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: Principal/Distance Learning Coordinator Position Overview: Currituck County Schools is seeking a dedicated and resourceful Distance Learning Teacher Assistant to support teachers and students in a remote learning environment. This position will involve assisting in the management and coordination of virtual classrooms, facilitating student engagement, providing technical support, and promoting a positive and interactive learning experience. Key Responsibilities:

• Support Instructional Delivery: Assist the lead teacher in delivering lessons through various digital platforms, ensuring that learning objectives are met.

• Technology Assistance: Help students with accessing and navigating online platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Zoom, etc.) and troubleshoot basic technical issues.

• Monitor Student Progress: Track student participation, assignments, and assessments, providing feedback or reminders as needed.

• Student Engagement: Encourage student participation in virtual discussions, group activities, and collaborative projects.

• Individual Support: Provide one-on-one or small group support for students who need additional assistance with course material, assignments, or technology.

• Communication: Maintain regular communication with students and parents regarding student progress and assignments.

• Classroom Management: Help maintain a positive and structured online learning environment by enforcing behavioral expectations and assisting with moderation during virtual lessons.

• Record Keeping: Assist with managing attendance, grades, and reports for students in virtual learning environments.

• Collaboration: Work closely with teachers and other staff members to align teaching strategies and ensure effective delivery of lessons and curriculum.

• Professional Development: Participate in training sessions to stay current with educational technology tools and best practices for online learning.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher preferred.

• Experience working in education, particularly in a classroom or virtual setting, is preferred.

• Comfortable using and troubleshooting various educational technology platforms.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote learning environment.

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Patience, creativity, and adaptability when working with students in a virtual environment.
