POSITION SUMMARY Must hold a Reading Specialist/Consultant certification through RIDE. Provides leadership and coordination in the Intensive Literacy Instruction consistent with the Rhode Island PreK-12 Literacy Policy and Personal Literacy Plan Guidelines. Teaches reading to students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS **** Must hold a Reading Specialist/Consultant certification through RIDE**** 1.To administer diagnostic assessments, provide Intensive Literacy Instruction, and monitor student progress for identified students. 2.To develop and implement Personal Literacy Plans (PLPs) for students as required by the Board of Regents Regulations. 3.To invite parent/guardian to participate in the planning of intervention(s) and to help support their child’s literacy growth outside of school. 4.To consult with ELL teachers and/or other school personnel as needed when designing instruction for students. 5.To maintain a record of the screening, intervention, and progress monitoring results for these students. 6.To provide specific information and documentation regarding student’s reading needs and progress to his/her parent/guardian. 7.To report student data to the Principal 8.Assists and makes recommendations in the development of the departmental budget. 9.Reviews and recommends desirable reading curriculum changes to the Principal, Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent. 10.Assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal or Assistant Superintendent.
