Duration: SY 2026-2027 Reports to: Head of Social Emotional Learning & Wellbeing ACS Athens is a student-centered international school grounded in American educational philosophy and principles. We are seeking a passionate Elementary School Counselor to join our dynamic learning community for the 2026–2027 academic year. Role Summary The Elementary School Counselor plays a vital role in supporting the social, emotional, and academic growth of young learners, fostering a culture of care, inclusion, and wellbeing. This is a maternity leave replacement position. Key Responsibilities

• Student Support: Provide individual and group counseling to address students' emotional, social, and academic needs.

• Social Emotional Learning (SEL): Deliver SEL classroom lessons aligned with ACS Athens frameworks and philosophy.

• Family Engagement: Communicate proactively with families; offer support, resources, and guidance to ensure student wellbeing.

• Collaboration & Consultation: Partner with teachers and staff to promote positive learning environments and student success.

• Student Advocacy: Participate in Child Study Teams and contribute to developing support plans and intervention strategies.

• Transitions: Support new students and families through orientation and integration initiatives (e.g., peer buddy program).

• Schoolwide Initiatives: Engage in programs that promote character education, wellness, and anti-bullying awareness.

• Crisis Response: Provide support during critical incidents to ensure safety and care for the school community.

• Professional Growth: Commit to ongoing learning and apply best practices in school counseling and child development.

• Additional Duties: Other responsibilities as assigned by the Elementary School Principal.

Qualifications

• Education: Degree in Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.

• Certification: Valid license in School Counseling.

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a school-based counseling role.

• Skills:

• Strong communication skills with young learners and families.

• Ability to deliver developmentally and culturally responsive counseling.

• Comfort with digital tools to enhance services and engagement.

• Language: Fluency in English required.

• Commitment: Deep dedication to child safeguarding and ethical practice.
