QualificationsResumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position. A qualified candidate must possess the following: Recreation aid (Lifeguard Trainee) Must be able to swim and participate in the lifeguard certifications. Recreation aid (Lifeguard) Possesses and maintains the following certifications: 1. Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. StarGuard, YMCA, or ELLIS); 2. American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED orequivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED); 3. First Aid. For Water Parks upgrade the certification to: 'Water park Lifeguard and First Aid;CPR/PR/AED' (American Red Cross). 4. for facilities that use Oxygen Administration "O2 bottles" the O2 Administration certification (American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration installation offered training (i.e. Fire Dept.) must be obtained within two weeks of reporting for duty. The above minimum qualifications must be described within the duties of previous work experience listed on the applicant's resume and/or supporting documents. A copy of all documents must be submitted at the time of application. n addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": 1. Possess a Deep Water Lifeguard certification- Red Cross or Equivalent. 2. Have previous Lifeguard experience. Applicants that meet the Highly Preferred criteria will be referred to management for consideration first. All others may be referred if management does not make a selection from the Highly Preferred list.
Major DutiesPerforms all pool and/or waterfront lifeguard responsibilities supervise all patrons and activities, monitoring all water activities, applying first aid, enforcing safety, report safety hazards to supervisor, perform water rescues necessary etc.Performs rescue work, promptly renders cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or emergency first aid and calls for medical assistance as necessary.Conducts and documents pool chemical testing results. Checks chlorine and pH levels on a scheduled basis; notifies Certified Pool Operator or supervisor of chemical imbalances; adjusts chemicals as directed.Administers aquatic assessment testing and certification in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD)provides introductory equipment orientations, as needed.Performs cleaning duties (e.g., basic janitorial services, vacuuming, skimming, etc.) and routine facility maintenance as assigned by Aquatics Coordinator.
