We are seeking a motivated Laboratory Practitioner to support Clinical Scientists in delivering high-quality fertility laboratory services.
This role involves assisting with routine clinical procedures, maintaining accurate laboratory records, and supporting compliance with regulatory standards. The postholder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
Main duties of the job
Perform routine laboratory procedures in line with SOPs (e.g., semen analysis, sperm preparation, cryopreservation, thawing)Assist with fertility procedures such as oocyte collection, embryo transfer, and sperm retrievalPrepare laboratory materials (culture dishes, gradients) using aseptic techniquesMaintain accurate clinical records and laboratory documentationSupport stock control, ordering, and reagent traceabilityMonitor and maintain laboratory equipment (e.g., CO, liquid nitrogen, calibration checks)Contribute to quality assurance processes (e.g., audits, NEQAS participation)Assist with patient data management and reporting of resultsSupport safe storage and transport of gametes and embryosMaintain a clean, safe, and compliant laboratory environment

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths IT skills (Microsoft Office)
Desirable
Experience in laboratory or healthcare environment
Experience Essential
Administrative or clinical support experience Data entry and database management

Experience in regulated environments Understanding of healthcare records or audits
